Our History

Arcy is the product of a need discovered by Jimmie (Administrator/CEO) and Ellen Stapleton to establish a hospice agency that provides high quality, personal, compassionate care by a team which desires to enhance the quality of living for patients with a life-limiting illness.

Mr. Stapleton has a long tenure in healthcare, including extensive experience with elderly patients in long term acute care hospitals. Due to the nature of the patients that were admitted to these hospitals, many patients passed away at the hospital, instead of in a homelike setting. Mr. Stapleton knew that hospice care offered their services in such a setting.

Mr. and Mrs. Stapleton believed that hospice care provided an opportunity to give back to the community by taking care of the medical, spiritual and social needs of patients and their families, at a time in life where it is most needed.

In 2010, Ellen Stapleton passed away after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. Said her husband, Jimmie, “I know first hand how important it is to have good people helping out at such a difficult time. The Arcy Hospice staff showed my family and me exactly the high level of care and compassion Ellen and I wanted for all our patients when we decided to create this organization. My family and I are very proud of the care provided by our team of caregivers and volunteers.”

Each employee and volunteer at Arcy undergoes criminal background and reference checks before seeing any patients. Additionally, each receives extensive orientation and ongoing training related to hospice and palliative care.

Arcy was established with the highest standards of care, including those of the State of Texas, Medicare and Medicaid. Arcy is a member of the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce and the NHPCO (National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization). It is also a certified Great Place to Work.
